Gloucester Police Seek Suspicious Man In Incident Involving Child

Police are asking for the public's help to find a man who was involved in what they called a "suspicious incident" involving a girl, 12.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help to find a man involved in what they termed a “suspicious incident” involving a 12-year-old girl in Gloucester Township on Wednesday.

The girl was walking her dog in the area of the 1000 Block of Cummings Avenue when she came across a suspicious vehicle stopped in the middle of the street at about 3:45 p.m., Gloucester Township police said Thursday morning.

A man in the white pickup truck called out to her, claiming he was lost and asking where he was, police said. When she didn’t answer, he got out of his car and approached her while holding a clipboard.

He kept trying to talk to her, but she ran off down Highland Avenue, police said. He then left the area in his car on Apple or Poplar Avenue. Although he was talking to her, he didn’t approach her before she ran off, police said.

The vehicle is described as a newer white pickup truck with red and black lettering on the side and possibly yellow running lights on the front.

The man is described as between 55 and 65 years old with white, shoulder-length hair and a medium complexion. He is believed to have been wearing black sunglasses with teeth that were spaced apart and spoke with a speech impediment as well as a stutter, police said.
