Popular Restaurant Closes In Gloucester Twp.; New Concept On The Way
The restaurant operated for more than a decade, offering a scratch kitchen that sourced ingredients from local sources.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A popular restaurant and neighborhood spot in Glendora has permanently closed, with a new concept on the way.
Kitchen 519 had operated for more than 10 years, offering a scratch kitchen that sourced ingredients from local sources. On Wednesday, the business announced its permanent closure on social media.
"For over 10 years, Kitchen 519 has been more than a restaurant — it’s been a gathering place, a second home, and a space shaped by the people who walked through our doors," the announcement says. "We’ve shared countless meals, celebrations, conversations, and moments with this community, and we are endlessly grateful for every bit of it."

Co-owners John Stewart and Diana Smarrito sold the restaurant, which will have a "new incoming concept," the closing announcement says.
Specifics on the incoming business were not disclosed. But they will accept Kitchen 519 gift cards.

Kitchen 519 closed abruptly partially because the buyer wanted to complete the sale earlier than expected, says Stewart, the restaurant's head chef.
Stewart and Smarrito also wanted to spend more time with family.
"We re-evaluated our business and personal wants and decided to sell in January," Stewart told Patch. "We were planning on a February close and having a nice sendoff, but our buyer understandably wanted to move quick."
The owners were previously pursuing funding to stay afloat, but the process was delayed during the federal government shutdown a few months ago.
They will continue to offer catering, and their Philadelphia restaurant, Revival BBQ, remains open.
Kitchen 519 operated at 200 E Evesham Rd., Glendora.
