Prosecutor: South Jersey Man Dies Following Police Involved Shooting in Winslow
William Campbell, 59, allegedly raised his handgun and pointed at the police officer when the officer shot him once.

A 59-year-old Winslow man was killed during a police-involved shooting, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Winslow Police Chief Robert Stimelski announced on Sunday.
William Campbell allegedly raised his handgun and pointed at the police officer when the officer shot him once. Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer, an 18-year veteran of the police department, was uninjured, and police recovered Campbell’s firearm.

The shooting occurred when the officer responded to reports of a domestic disturbance in which a woman was being held at gunpouint by a relative on the 300 block of New Brooklyn Road around 10:20 Sunday morning.
The woman allegedly approached the police car and attempted to get inside while screaming about a man with a gun. This is when Campbell allegedly raised his gun and pointed it at the officer.

The unidentified officer has been placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
