Row Home Fire Displaces Family In Gloucester Twp.
All residents evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A house fire displaced a family after burning a row home Thursday in Gloucester Township.
Crews responded to the blaze just before 1:30 p.m. at 220 Laurel Pl. — part of the Cherrywood Townhomes. First responders saw heavy smoke coming from the second floor of the back of the home.
All residents safely evacuated before firefighters arrived. The fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported, police said.

Six residents were displaced. The American Red Cross has been assisting them.
The cause was under investigation as of Thursday, but it didn't appear suspicious, officials said.

As is customary after house fires, the Gloucester Township Police Department reminded residents to make sure their smoke alarms work.
"This incident serves as a reminder to check your fire suppression systems, including alerts and audible alarm systems, to ensure they are operational," the GTPD said. "Smoke alarms are a key component of any fire escape plan. When there is smoke, there is fire, which can spread quickly. Working smoke alarms provide early warnings, allowing you to evacuate promptly."
