Sicklerville Men Broke Into 17 Cars, Ran From Police: Gloucester Township Police

The men were captured in a wooded area Sunday morning.

Two Sicklerville men were charged in connection with the theft of multiple items from 17 cars after they were captured while attempting to run from the police on Sunday, Gloucester Township Police said on Tuesday.

Bryan Dupree, 18, was charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking and resisting arrest.

Derek Cooper, 19, was charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.

Police were summoned to the area of Thackery Court in the Terrestria development for a report of two people allegedly breaking into cars on Sept. 20 at 5:50 a.m. Arriving officers located several vehicles that had been entered and began searching for suspects.

Police found one suspect in the adjacent wooded area. He allegedly ran off into a swampy area. While running, he allegedly discarded a bag containing a laptop computer and various electronic devices.

After police set up a perimeter, Dupree and Cooper were both found and captured.

Officers then searched the area they were initially called to. They found a large amount property that appeared to come from 17 different victims’ cars.

After further investigation, both suspects were charged. They were processed and remanded to the Camden County Correctional facility on $50,000 full cash bail.

While many items have already been returned to their owners, several are still unidentified. Photographs of the recovered property may be viewed on the Gloucester Township Police Facebook page and the Gloucester Township Police Pinterest site under “glotwppolice.”
