Six Years Later, Gloucester Township Police Detective Continues to Search for Cousin's Killer
A $42,000 reward is being offered in connection with the murder of Matt Novak Jr.

With the six-year anniversary of his cousin’s murder approaching this Sunday, Gloucester Township Police Det. Chuck Dougherty continues efforts to find Matt Novak Jr.’s killer.
Dougherty and Novak’s father, Matt Novak Sr., recently posted a new YouTube video discussing the murder during the Puerto Rican Day Parade in Philadelphia on Sept. 28, 2008.
There is also a $42,000 reward being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

Novak Jr. and two of his friends were leaving the parade when their car broke down on Sixth and Green streets.
About 45 minutes after they broke down, three people in a Blue Chevrolet Impala, dated 2006-2008, with New Jersey license plates stopped and offered assistance.

Novak Jr. got in the car to pick up jumper cables for his dead battery. The car drove around the corner. As Novak Jr. was getting out of the car at 13th Street and Fairmount Avenue, he was shot.
He was taken to the hospital where he later died. The suspect’s vehicle was caught on video.
The reason for the murder remains unknown.
Dougherty appeared on America’s Most Wanted back in 2012 to discuss the crime, and has created a website dedicated to finding his cousin’s murderer.
