South Jersey Boy On Motorcycle Killed In Crash With SUV: Police

The incident came days after authorities say a crash killed 3 people in the same city.

VINELAND, NJ — A boy on a motorcycle was killed in a crash Monday night with an SUV in Cumberland County, authorities said.

Vineland police identified the victim as Thomas E. Gauntt IV, 16, of Millville. The crash is under investigation.

Officers responded to the crash just after 11:35 p.m. at South Lincoln Avenue and South Brewster Road in Vineland. Gaunt's Honda street bike collided with a 2018 Nissan Rogue, police said.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Nissan driver was traveling northbound on S Lincoln Avenue and tried to turn left onto S Brewster Road, police said. Gaunt struck the front of the vehicle, according to law enforcement.

Gaunt succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nissan driver was unhurt.

No charges have been filed as of Tuesday morning. Officer Christian Morales, of the Vineland Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit, is leading the ongoing investigation.

The deadly collision came two days after authorities say a single-vehicle crash killed three people in Vineland. The victims of Saturday night's incident were all Vineland residents in their 20s, police said.
