Girl, 10, 'Fighting For Her Life' After Hit-And-Run In South Jersey, Parent Says

BRIDGETON, NJ — A South Jersey girl is "fighting for her life" after a driver struck her, according to the child's parent.
Last week in Bridgeton, a hit and seriously injured a 10-year-old who was crossing the street, according to city police. The driver, who has since been charged, fled the scene, authorities said.
The victim — identified by her mother as Larissa Muniz — has faced a difficult path to recovery in the hospital, according to a GoFundMe supporting her medical bills. That includes brain surgery, according to her mother, Rayquana Cannon.

The hit-and-run occurred at 7:07 p.m. May 10, when the 10-year-old girl tried crossing Bridgeton's E. Broad Street toward Wawa, police said. A white SUV struck her, and the driver fled the scene, according to law enforcement.
The driver — Sierra A. Thomas, 28, of Bridgeton — was charged Thursday with knowingly leaving an accident that resulted in serious injury and endangering an injured victim. Officials took Thomas into custody and released her with a future court date.
