South Jersey Walgreens Evacuates Due To Chemical-Fume Issue
First responders arrived on-scene to air out the building.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Walgreens store in South Jersey was evacuated Wednesday because of a chemical-fume issue.
A store employee mixed bleach and ammonia, which caused a "small reaction" and subsequent fume issue, according to Washington Township police. The township's fire department was airing the building out as Wednesday afternoon.
Officials didn't report any injuries.

Mixing ammonia and bleach — common ingredients of household cleaners — can release a deadly chloramine gas. The accidental mixture of the substances killed a Buffalo Wild Wings employee in Massachusetts in 2019.
