Speed Limit Reduced on Portion of Erial Road in Gloucester Township
The new speed limit took effect Tuesday.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- The speed limit on Erial Road from Blackwood- Clementon Road to Little Gloucester Road has been lowered to 35 mph effective immediately, Gloucester Township Police announced Tuesday afternoon.
New speed limit signs have been installed and variable message boards have been put in place notifying drivers of the speed limit change.
“According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), exceeding the posted speed limit or driving too fast for conditions is one of the most prevalent factors contributing to traffic crashes,” police said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. “Speed is involved in about one out of three fatal crashes each year. Additionally, in 2013 data released by the New Jersey State Police, 82 of the 508 fatal motor vehicle crashes were attributed to unsafe speed.”
