PHILADELPHIA – The Watermark at Logan Square has promoted Steven Stefanelli, NHA, from nursing home administrator to associate executive director. Stefanelli has worked at the Center City retirement community as the nursing home administrator since June 2016, managing long-term care and skilled nursing. In his new role as associate executive director, he will work closely with Executive Director Jennifer Tapner to oversee operations of the entire community, which includes the personal care apartments, skilled nursing, rehabilitation services, memory care and programming that meets the unique needs of each resident.

“Steven has executed a vision for resident-centered care in our community, and his transition to the associate executive director role will allow him to apply that vision to benefit all residents throughout our community,” says Tapner. “He has worked for the past three years to rally both our associates and partnering organizations to work together to develop innovative programs and approaches that put our residents first. He has demonstrated tremendous leadership and passion as he has worked to ensure that our residents thrive.”

Recently, Stefanelli arranged a coordination agreement with Total Renal Care Inc., a subsidiary of DaVita Inc, to provide staff-assisted home hemodialysis at The Watermark at Logan Square beginning in May 2019. Long-term care residents of The Watermark at Logan Square who qualify for this new hemodialysis program will avoid disruptions in any therapy they regularly receive, achieve even greater consistency in their skilled nursing care and enjoy greater access to amenities at the community, including their meals, special events, clubs and classes. This new program also means that The Watermark at Logan Square can accept short-term residents in need of dialysis into its Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. These patients are often not ready to return home, yet they do not necessarily need to remain in the hospital. Now, they can come to The Watermark and enjoy the services, amenities and lifestyle short-term residents enjoy, while receiving therapy, rehabilitation and other services to help prepare them to return home.

Prior to joining The Watermark at Logan Square, Stefanelli worked as an assistant nursing home administrator at both Cheltenham Nursing and Rehabilitation and Reliant Senior Care. He also previously worked as a project manager and then an account executive with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield.
