Teen Charged With Murder After Fatal Shooting In Camden: Prosecutor

Authorities reported 2 fatal shootings in the city on the evening of June 28.

CAMDEN, NJ — A teen was charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last week in Camden, authorities announced Friday.

Officials took Billy Corbitt into custody Thursday. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office suspects that the 18-year-old killed Bryan Roberts on June 28.

Camden County police responded to reported gunfire at about 11 p.m. that night in Ablett Village. Roberts, 21, of Trenton, died at the scene, the prosecutor's office said.

Roberts's death marked the second-reported fatal shooting that evening in Camden. Hours earlier, Kyle Wilson was pronounced dead at the hospital. Corbitt, meanwhile, was charged with first-degree murder. Members of the U.S. Marshals Service's regional fugitive task force took the Camden resident into custody.

Corbitt was placed in the Camden County Jail, with a detention hearing to be scheduled for a future date.
