Timber Creek Ascends to Top Spot in South Jersey Group IV Football Standings

The Timber Creek High School football team has ascended to the top spot in the South Jersey Group IV power points standings, posted Monday on nj.com.

One week after placing second, two points behind Shawnee, the Chargers have passed the Renegades.

Timber Creek (5-0) has 62 points, while Shawnee (5-0) has 60 points. Hammonton (5-0, 56 points) is in third place.

Timber Creek jumped ahead of Shawnee following a 47-29 win over Kingsway Friday night.

Triton (4-1, 47 points) also moved up one spot, from fifth to fourth, following an 18-17 win over Moorestown.

The rest of the top eight is as follows: Clearview (2-2, 33 points); Toms River South (3-1, 31 points); Absegami (1-3, 28 points); and Winslow (1-4, 25 points).

The top eight teams in each group after the first eight games of the season qualify for the playoffs. Only a team’s seven best wins of their first eight games count toward qualifying for the playoffs.

Power points are calculated based on the size of the schools a team has defeated, and the number of wins that team has.
