Timber Creek Football Team Faces Shawnee in Finals Rematch Sunday

The South Jersey Group IV final begins at 3:30 p.m. at Rowan University.

The Timber Creek High School football team plays in its fourth consecutive sectional final Sunday afternoon when it travels to Rowan University to face Shawnee for the NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV title. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m., according to the Courier Post.

The game is a rematch of last year’s sectional final, won by Shawnee, 31-22. That game motivated the Chargers this year, according to the report.

Timber Creek is 11-0 heading into the final. It entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed, and defeated No. 8 Winslow, 32-12, in the first round.

The Chargers downed No. 4 Kingsway, 25-22, in overtime to advance to the sectional final.

Shawnee entered the playoffs as the No. 2 seed, and defeated Hammonton, 42-10 win, in the semifinals. However, the Renegades suffered their first loss of the season on Thanksgiving, to Lenape, and will enter the final with a 10-1 record.

Timber Creek won the Group III title in 2011 and the Group IV title in 2012. It lost to Hammonton in the Group III final in 2009, according to the Courier Post.
