Timber Creek Freshman Dies After Being Hit by Car
Gavyn Connolly was hit while attempting to cross Route 42 on Saturday night.

A freshman at Timber Creek Regional High School is who was hit by a car while crossing Route 42 in Washington Township Saturday night has died, Washington Township Police said Monday night.
Gavyn Connolly, 15, was crossing the street with a group of girls on their way to a local carnival at 8:09 p.m. when she was struck by a car.
She was hit by a 2011 Toyota Yaris driven by a Stratford resident, Washington Township Police said.

Connolly was taken to the Cooper University Trauma center for treatment of unspecified injuries. She passed away on Monday.
"On behalf of Chief Rafael Muniz, the Washington Township Police Department is extending its deepest sympathies to the family of Gavyn Connolly during this difficult time," the police department posted on Facebook Monday night.

The driver was not injured, and charges have not yet been filed.
The crash remains under investigation.

Gloucester Township Councilman Michael Mignone and Councilwoman Tracey Trotto also expressed their sympathies to Connolly's family during Monday night's council meeting.
On Monday night, the junior class at the high school took to Twitter to request everyone at Timber Creek wear purple on Tuesday in honor of Connolly because it was her favorite color.
"RIP Gavyn Connolly," the TC Class of 2019 posted. "You will have a special place in everyone's heart here at Timber Creek."
