Timber Creek, Triton Drop in Football Standings; Highland Moves Into Playoff Position

Highland is in eighth place in Group III following back-to-back wins.

The Timber Creek and Triton high school football teams each dropped one spot in the South Jersey Group IV power points standings following bye weeks.

Highland entered the playoff chase after back-to-back wins.

Timber Creek (5-0, 68 points) dropped from first to second when the standings were posted Monday on nj.com.

It was replaced by Hammonton (6-0, 72 points), which was in third place last week. Hammonton defeated Moorestown over the weekend to mover past Shawnee (5-0, 64 points), which dropped from second place to third.

Triton (4-1, 50 points) dropped to fifth place, one point behind Winslow (2-4, 50 points), which handed Princeton its first loss of the season this weekend.

Clearview (2-3, 40 points), Kingsway (2-3, 39 points) and Absegami (1-4, 34 points) round out the top eight.

Highland (2-4, 33 points) moved into the top eight in South Jersey Group III following a 20-6 win over Deptford this week. It was their second consecutive win, following a 14-6 win over Woodrow Wilson.

Highland is five points behind seventh-place Oakcrest (3-2, 38 points).

The top eight teams in each group after the first eight games of the season qualify for the playoffs. Only a team’s seven best wins of their first eight games count toward qualifying for the playoffs.

Power points are calculated based on the size of the schools a team has defeated, and the number of wins that team has.
