Triton Baseball Team Falls In Sectional Final

The Triton Regional baseball team fell to Cherry Hill West, 6-3, in the South Jersey Group 3 final on Friday, according to nj.com.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Triton Regional High School baseball team’s season came to a close with a trip to the sectional finals.

The top-seeded Mustangs fell to No. 2 Cherry Hill West, 6-3, in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 championship gameon Friday, according to nj.com.

Triton fell behind early, but seized a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth. The Lions posted four runs in the top of the seventh and held on in the bottom of the frame to claim the crown.

Triton finished the season with a record of 20-4, according to nj.com. It advanced to the final with a 6-5 win over No. 12 Toms River East in the semifinals.

In the quarterfinals, Triton needed an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth from designated hitter Matt Woods to defeat No. 9 Pinelands, 1-0, according to nj.com.

They opened the tournament with a mercy-rule, 10-0 win over No. 16 Central Regional in the first round, according to nj.com.
