Triton, Highland Baseball Teams Fall in Playoff Quarterfinals
Mainland defeated Highland and Toms River South downed Triton on Friday.

The Mainland High School baseball team scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to deny Highland a trip to the NJSIAA South Jersey Group III semifinals on Friday, according to nj.com.
After scoring twice in the third inning and held a one-run lead going into the sixth, but Mainland rebounded to take a 3-2 win.
Billy Jackson was 2-for-3 with a homerun and two RBI for Highland in the loss.

Highland came into the tournament as the No. 7 seed, and defeated Hammonton, 8-4, in the first round.
Highland was 15-9-1 this season.

Mainland will face Toms River South, a 7-3 winner over Triton, in the semifinals. Triton was unable to overcome a five-run third inning.
Triton was the sixth seed in the playoffs, and defeated Pinelands, 6-0, in the first round.
Triton was 16-11-1 this season.
No. 2 Mainland hosts No. 3 Toms River South in the semifinals on May 26.
