Two Men Charged With Prostitution in Gloucester Township

The prostitution was discovered after a man allegedly robbed three women at a Howard Johnson's.

Gloucester Township Police are searching for two men who were allegedly engaging in prostitution with three women in a Howard Johnson’s Hotel on Saturday.

At about 1:21 a.m., a police officer who had been investigating an unrelated incident at a nearby Wawa, was told that three women were robbed in a room at Howard Johnson’s.

A man allegedly stole their cell phones at kniftepoint. The suspect was described as a black male wearing all black clothes, approximately 5’-10” tall and 24 years old. He was reported to have a thin build with a goatee.

During the investigation, police learned that the three adult women had been engaging in prostitution at the time of the robbery. Two other men were identified and charged with promoting prostitution. They remain at-large.

The women were not charged, but they were interviewed and offered assistance by GTPD’s Licensed Clinical Social Worker to include referrals to “She Has A Name,” private counseling and various woman’s shelters in our area.

Gloucester Township Police are aggressively attempting to identify those involved in prostitution to determine if the prostitutes were victims of human trafficking, and to specifically identify individuals acting as pimps, with the objective of bringing the suspects to justice and providing assistance to the victims.
