Update On Camden County Coronavirus Response Set For Tuesday

CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — Rep. Donald Norcross (D-1) will join Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. to provide an update on the county’s response to the coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday.
The event will stream live on Camden County’s Facebook page and at camdencounty.com/live beginning at noon.
“This pandemic represents a rapidly changing situation, so we are continuing to maintain an open dialogue with our residents to keep them armed with up-to-date guidance and critical resources,” Cappelli said. “Our goal is the same as it has been since March, and that is to keep our community safe, to keep our residents healthy, to stop the spread of coronavirus, and ultimately to save lives.”

Later in the day, the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center will host a Virtual Veterans Town Hall, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Participants can join the event via Facebook Live at CMCVAMC Facebook or via phone at 844-376-0278 access code: 688185328#.

This town hall is an opportunity for veterans to receive the latest information on the coronavirus and the progress being made in the fight against it. The VA Medical Center will have representatives from Veterans Benefits Administration, National Cemetery Administration and Veterans Health Administration available to answer questions.
“It is incredibly important to stay up-to-date with any programs or services intended to help veterans and their families navigate this unprecedented crisis,” Camden Couty Freeholder Melinda Kane, liaison to the Office of Veterans Affairs, said. “If you have questions about your benefits, veterans’ programs, or other issues related to the coronavirus, please join this virtual town hall event on Tuesday, June 2.”
As of May 29, there were 6,588 cases of the coronavirus in Camden County with 320 confirmed deaths. Out of the total number of cases, 1,119 are among residents in the county's 56 long-term care facilities and another 382 cases are among staff members. Two-hundred thirty-seven residents and three staff members in these nursing homes have died as a result of the coronavirus.
