GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The third annual Walk for Water at Highland Regional High School has been postponed one week. The walk, originally scheduled for May 17, will now take place on Wednesday, May 30, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the high school's track, 450 Erial Road in the Blackwood section of the township.
The walk sheds light on the fact that people of Swaziland, Africa travel miles, carrying weighted containers to gather water from the only source available. This water, which is difficult to access, is usually contaminated, and cause illness in the people of which it is consumed.

“Our mission is to bring an end to the global water crisis by challenging the community to walk a mile while carrying two- gallon water jugs,” the school district said in a release. “By doing this, you will get a small glimpse into the life of many of these African children.”
Entrants will carry two jugs of water while participating in the 1-mile walk/run. There will also be music, concessions, inflatables and tons of activities for the family. The price is $6 per person, which covers entry only. All the proceeds collected will go directly to building a freshwater well in Africa.
