WEATHER ALERT: Hour-By-Hour Forecast Of Snowstorm In New Jersey, School Closings

Expect Tuesday to be a tough commute.

A pending storm has the potential for significant snow accumulation, according to the National Weather Service. Eastern Pennsylvania and Central New Jersey can expect between 4 and 6 inches, according to estimates as of Sunday night.

Coastal areas along New Jersey may see a bit more and North Jersey may see a bit less, according to NWS predictions.

The extreme cold won’t be letting up, either, Wind chill values as low as 15 to 20 degrees below zero are possible overnight Monday into Tuesday, according to the NWS. Lows Monday are expected to be plunge to 2 below zero with wind gusts of around 25 miles per hour.

Hackettstown (North Jersey)

• Monday night/Tuesday morning: Snow likely, mainly after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 6. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Total night-time snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
• Tuesday: A chance of snow, mainly before 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 21. Wind chill values as low as -1. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 7. Light west wind.
• Wednesday: A chance of snow showers after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 24. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Montclair (Northeast New Jersey)

• Monday night/Tuesday morning: Snow, mainly after 2 a.m. Low around 11. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. Light and variable wind becoming north around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
• Tuesday: Snow, mainly before 10 a.m. High near 23. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. North wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
• Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 5 mph.
• Wednesday: A chance of snow showers after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Metuchen (Central Jersey)

• Monday night/Tuesday morning: Snow. Low around 12. Light and variable wind becoming north around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Total night-time snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
• Tuesday: Snow likely, mainly before 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 25. Northeast wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
• Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13. West wind 3 to 7 mph.
• Wednesday: A chance of snow showers after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. West wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Manahawkin (South Jersey)

• Monday night/Tuesday morning: Snow, mainly after 10 p.m. Low around 13. Calm wind becoming northeast around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
• Tuesday: Snow, mainly before 3 p.m. High near 28. North wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
• Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph.
• Wednesday: A chance of snow showers after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. West wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
