Marie A. Stuart admitted to the assault, which took place at the couple's South jersey home.

A Maryland woman admitted that she attacked her ex-husband’s wife with a hammer in the couple’s South Jersey home in 2012, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
Marie A. Stuart, 44, of Elkton MD, pleaded guilty on Monday to first-degree attempted murder in the attack that resulted in the victim dislocating her shoulder, authorities said.
Stuart admitted that she broke into the couple’s home in Mantua Township by breaking a glass sliding door at about 1 a.m. on Nov. 16, 2012.

Stuart was scheduled to go to trial on the charge this week, but chose instead to plead guilty without a recommended sentence, authorities said. Sentences for first-degree crimes range from 10-20 years.
Sentencing has been scheduled for Jan. 12, 2018, giving lawyers on both sides time to prepare memoranda on sentencing.
