Woman Dies From Injuries Sustained In Gloucester Twp Crash: Cops
The driver of the SUV that hit the car the victim was in faces additional charges, officials say.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Philadelphia woman who was injured in a two-vehicle accident last month along the Black Horse Pike has died, Gloucester Township police said.
Melinda S. Hart of Philadelphia died last Tuesday at Cooper University Hospital as the result of injuries she sustained in the February vehicle accident, the police department said on its Facebook page.
Consequently, Elizabeth McDonel of Blackwood — the driver of the Chevrolet Traverse that struck Hart's — was charged with second-degree death by automobile, officials said. She had previously been charged with five counts of third-degree assault by auto, DWI and had previously been issued several motor vehicle summonses, officials added.

The case is currently pending in court, according to police.
McDonel was drunk as she drove the wrong way on the Black Horse Pike near Landing Road on Feb. 24, officials continued. She struck a Nissan Murano occupied by Hart and four other people, according to officials.

A passenger in McDonel's vehicle, Hart and the four others in the Nissan Murano were taken to Cooper Medical Center for serious injuries, police said. Their current conditions were not released by police.
