GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A woman is dead after a hit-and-run crash on Black Horse Pike Monday night, and Gloucester Township police say they are looking for the driver who struck her and fled.

Police responded to the 800 block of Black Horse Pike just before 10:30 p.m. Monday, after callers reported a pedestrian was laying in the middle of the road. The woman was suffering from life-threatening injuries, witnesses said, and the vehicle that hit her had left the scene.

Passing drivers stopped to stay with the woman, police said. The crash scene was between Almonesson Road and Route 42, said police.

Emergency crews took the woman, identified as 58-year-old Elaine J. Hubler of Hilltop (Blackwood), to Jefferson Washington Township Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to the GTPD. Black Horse Pike was closed for about three hours while police investigated.

Police say a dark-colored vehicle driving in the northbound lane hit Hubler, and did not stop. Police released a video showing what may be the suspect car; note that this video may be upsetting to some viewers.
