• Hackettstown Youth Basketball Registration Opens September 21 (patch.com) — Families in Hackettstown can start registering children in grades one through eight for the town's 2026–27 recreation basketball season beginning September 21, with most games and clinics held at local schools. Registration is just $15 for Hackettstown residents before November 1, and the season will run from mid-November practices through mid-March games. The Recreation Department is also seeking volunteer coaches from the community.

Kuipers Memorial Park in Hackettstown offers an easy canal-side walk with preserved Morris Canal remnants, quiet forest, and ruins of a 19th-century canal store. From multiple local trailheads, residents can explore flat towpaths, longer climbs toward Pohatcong Mountain, and winter views of Centenary University's gold dome, all within posted daily gate hours.
