Today's riddle: What has a tail, but no body? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Hackettstown Sets 2026 Halloween Trick-Or-Treat Hours (patch.com) — Hackettstown families can now lock in their Halloween plans, as the town has set official trick-or-treating hours for Saturday, Oct. 31, from 3 to 8 p.m. The five-hour window applies throughout Hackettstown, giving residents plenty of time to organize costumes, candy, and safety plans well in advance.
2. Boys soccer rankings for Sept. 14: Minor changes and 1 new team (lehighvalleylive.com) — Hackettstown High School's boys soccer team is ranked ninth this week, holding a 2-2 record after recent matches against North Plainfield, Wallkill Valley, and Dover. The regional rankings highlight how local teams stack up early in the season and hint at bigger shakeups after top-ranked Emmaus visits second-ranked Northampton on Tuesday.
3. Movers and Shakers: LeadingAge President, CEO to Step Down; Anthem Promotes President (savannahherald.com) — Hackettstown's Riverwalk Village is getting new leadership attention, with Jeffery Hall joining its board of advisors while also serving at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge. Parent organization FellowshipLife has reshuffled its top board roles and added several new directors, moves that could influence future services, programming and strategic direction at the Hackettstown senior community.
4. NJ rents continue to rise. Mercer County saw the biggest jump over the past year. • Jersey Vindicator (jerseyvindicator.org) — Hackettstown renters are feeling the squeeze as Warren County's HUD-estimated rents have more than doubled for studios over the past decade and climbed sharply for larger apartments. A new federal analysis shows big jumps statewide, with especially steep increases in nearby Mercer and Hudson counties that may be pushing pressure west toward more rural communities like Hackettstown.
