Community Corner

Destiny's Bridge

Please join us on April 1, 2014 at Sussex
County Community College in the Performing Arts Center for a screening of the
documentary “Destiny’s Bridge”, a true account of a tent city in Lakewood,
NJ.  There will be two screenings, the first at 10:30am after which there
will be a panel discussion with the film maker and representatives from
Operation Chillout. The second showing is at 6:30pm with a panel discussion
with Operation Chillout,  the film maker and some of the residents of Tent
City.  This is a free event but registration is requested.  Please go
to www.tentcity.eventbrite.com
to register.  Seating is limited so please reserve your seat now.

You
will get a bird’s eye view of what life is like for those who have lost
everything and whose address is now third tent from the left.

 Operation
Chillout is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to serve the homeless in many
ways.  First by meeting the most basic of needs such as housing and food,
and then to help these citizens of our state to turn things around and get the
help they need to get back on their feet.

Many
of our homeless are veterans and Operation Chillout is made up of veterans and
those who love vets.  They give their time, money, love and tears to help
those less fortunate amongst us.

 Operation
Chillout is a grassroots interfaith coalition founded in the year 2000 by
concerned volunteers to help a group of homeless Viet Nam veterans living in
the open under a railroad trestle in northern NJ. We believe in the inherent
worth of every homeless man, woman and child and provide emergency supplies and
survival gear to the most vulnerable members of our communities wherever we
encounter them. We bring our care to all homeless people without regard to
their religious affiliation, ethnic heritage or state of life.

 Co-Founder
of Operation Chillout, Roger Gottlieb will have a showing of his art in the
lobby.  Stop by and have a look at the works of our good friend and Viet
Nam veteran.

 The
college is located at One College Hill Road in Newton, NJ.  Please contact
