HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - While the focus has been on what essential big box stores might be open during the coronavirus, or COVID-19 pandemic, there are plenty of local shops that have been operating with modified procedures.

Home Towne Hardware is one of them.

"We have been open again for the past two weeks," the business posted to social media. "Started out with curbside only until we decided on the best way to organize and plan for safety of our staff and customers."

Now, customers our permitted into the store with social distancing.

Masks and gloves are required, they said noting that gloves are their rule and they offer them at no charge at the entrance.

"I am sad to say that some people are offended by the glove rule but these are trying times and we are doing what is best for the safety of everyone. Some people have turned around and walked out," the post said. "Another went ballistic and totally berated Sean our assistant manager with foul language. He merely asked him to put on gloves."

But officials noted that on the bright side many people are thankful for the way they are operating.

They thank us for being open and are grateful for the gloves," they said.

Home Towne Hardware LLC is located at 232 Main Street.
