Hackettstown St. Patrick’s Day Parade Traffic Alert

The parade is still scheduled for this Sunday.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - It is the day where everyone is a little bit Irish, and on Sunday it will be codified with the 12th Annual St. Patrick's Parade.

The parade kicks off at 3:30 p.m. with Grand Marshal Joseph "Joe" Barnes from Hacketstown, Ireland, leading numerous participants including Irish dance groups, Irish bands, community groups, bagpipes, drums, Centenary University clubs and groups, animals, Hackettstown and surrounding area fire departments and rescue squads, as well as hometown favorites Junior and Senior Colonial Musketeers and the Hackettstown Community Band, officials said.

The Hackettstown Police note that Main Street between Liberty Stand and Warren Street and Mountain Avenue between Main Street and Victoria Lane will be closed at approx. 3:15 p.m. for the St Patrick’s Day parade.

Police officers will be on scene directing traffic around the road closure.

There will also be NO PARKING/TOW AWAY ZONES on the following streets
starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday:

  • Route 46 (Main Street) between Grand Ave and Warren Street.
  • Washington Street between Church Street and Valentine Street.
  • Franklin Street between Liberty Street and Route 517 (High Street)
  • Liberty Street between Route 46 and Franklin Street
  • Valentine Street between Route 46 (Main Street) and Beatty Street.
  • Madison Street between Valentine Street and Grand Ave.
  • Monroe Street between Valentine Street and Grand Ave.
  • Jefferson Street between Valentine Street and Grand Ave.
  • Washington Street between Warren Street and Bells Lane.
  • Victoria Lane between Route 182 (Mountain Ave) and Mitchell Rd.
  • Bells Lane between Route 182 (Mountain Ave) and Washington Street.

Any vehicles parked in any of those areas will be ticketed and towed.
Parking is available in any of the municipal parking lots and on many side streets.

According to the Hackettstown Business Improvement District, this Irish-American tradition attracts more than 14,000 visitors—making this parade one of the biggest events in Hackettstown. Streets fill with enthusiasm as families, residents and visitors line up along the curb, in store windows and porches to celebrate and witness the festive parade, officials said.

This parade is pet-friendly, with a special pet costume contest sponsored by Doggie Styleash. Those interested can dress their pets for the chance to win prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places. Judging will be held at Czig Meister Brewing, located at 106 Valentine Street starting at 3 p.m.

Pets will then be invited to walk the parade as St. Patrick and Irish Heritage costume contestants after judging.
