Hackettstown Woman Killed In Friday Car Crash
Caryn Smith was one of two people to die in separate car crashes on Route 80 Friday afternoon.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — A Hackettstown woman died after striking a truck on Route 80 Friday afternoon, shortly after a single car crash killed an Ohio man on the same highway.
Caryn Smith, 34, struck the rear end of a Mac truck around 3 p.m. while driving on Friday. She was taken to St. Clares hospital where she died, police told the NJ Herald. She was alone in her car, and the other driver was not injured. Caryn graduated from Voorhees High School class of 2001 and also attended Montclair State University. Currently she was self-employed as a free lance accountant and office administrator. Caryn was known to those who were close to her for having a heart of gold and would stop at nothing to help anyone in need. She loved animals, especially her cats CJ and Holly, dancing, caring for children and cool cars “windows down, music up.”
She is survived by her fiance, a sister, godparents, and cousins.
An hour earlier, another man was killed in an accident on Route 80. In that case, a 72-year-old Ohio man's picked-up truck overturned, killing him at the scene, Patch reported.
