Hackettstown Woman Killed In Thursday Morning Car Crash

Breaking: A 51-year-old Hackettstown woman was pronounced dead following a Thursday morning crash in Long Valley.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — A Hackettstown woman was killed during a two-car crash on Schooley's Mountain Road Thursday morning, Washington Township Police said.

The 51-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Hackettstown Medical Center after receiving medical attention at the scene, police said. Her name has not been released, pending notification of her family.

Police say the crash happened around 9:30 a.m. near 349 Schooley's Mountain Road. The woman crossed over the double yellow center line and struck a car driven by a 36-year-old Newark man.

The woman became trapped in her car, and needed to be freed by first responders. She was not breathing, and was given CPR and shocks from an automatic defibrillator. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The man was treated at Hackettstown Medical Center for an arm injury, which is not life threatening.

It was not immediately clear why the woman drove over the double yellow line, and the crash remains under investigation by Sgt. James Burns of the Washington Township Emergency Services Unit, the Morris County Prosecutors Vehicle Homicide Unit and the Morris County Sheriff’s Department.

Schooley's Mountain Road was closed for three hours as a result of the crash.
