Man Gave Fake ID With Pot in Car, Police Say

A Hackettstown man was arrested for having false immigration documents when police found marijuana in his car, Sgt. Darren Tynan said.

Police stopped Adrian Tubay-Torres, 30, Wednesday afternoon for a malfunctioning brake light, Tynan said. When the officer spoke with Tubay-Torres, he noticed a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in the vehicle, Tynan said.

After an investigation, the officer found a glass pipe in the vehicle and under 50 grams of marijuana stashed in a crumpled piece of paper, Tynan said. When the officer asked Tubay-Torres to produce identification, the Hackettstown resident handed over a false social security card and a false immigration card, Tynan said.

Tubay-Torres was charged with possession of false documents, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, maintenance of lamps and being an unlicensed driver. 

Tubay-Torres was lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $3,000 bail.
