Septuagenarian Crashes Car Into ShopRite: Hackettstown Police

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - A 77-year-old Allamuchy Township woman drove into the ShopRite Wines & Spirits, 80 Main Street, last Thursday, according to the Hackettstown Police.

According to police, shortly after 3 p.m. Hackettstown Police, Hackettstown Fire Department and Hackettstown Rescue Squad responded to ShopRite Wines & Spirits on a report of a vehicle that crashed into the building.

Through an investigation it was determined that Elamarie Dolan was driving a 2015 Toyota and when she was attempting to park her vehicle, her foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas pedal, police said. This caused the vehicle to accelerate and then crashed into the front of the building.

The collision caused the wall to collapse and a window to shatter, police said. The store manager was inside the store near the front window and as the vehicle approached the window, he ran and then fell to the ground.

Police said despite the fall, no injuries were reported and ultimately no summonses were issued.
