“We know that we still have a long way to go in this fight, and it does not get any easier to announce new cases or deaths as we continue to get through this pandemic. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those who have lost a loved one, as well as those who have contracted the virus,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. said. “The Board continues to work with our partners in both the public and private sectors to expand testing access throughout the county. The more tests we can administer, the better an understanding we will develop of how this virus is spreading and who is being affected. That knowledge, combined with social distancing and other tools at our disposal, will be critical in our fight against this insidious virus moving forward.”

On Monday, New Jersey Department of Health released its first public count of coronavirus cases and deaths in long-term care facilities. Deaths include those who tested positive, people with pending test results and respiratory-illness deaths for which coronavirus testing wasn't performed.
Facilities report case totals to officials, so they may not reflect real-time data. The publicly released numbers don't differentiate residents and staff. No nursing homes in Haddon Township were on the list. Read more here: Camden County Officials 'Horrified' By Nursing Home Deaths

How It Spreads
The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading from person-to-person. Someone who is actively sick with COVID-19 can spread the illness to others. That is why CDC recommends that these patients be isolated either in the hospital or at home (depending on how sick they are) until they are better and no longer pose a risk of infecting others.
There is currently no vaccine for COVID-19.
While the best way to prevent illness is to avoid virus exposure, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention always recommends taking preventive actions to contain the spread of viruses.
This includes:
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipes.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
