Camden County Corrections Officer Smuggled Drugs For Inmate: Cops
Edwin Berrios, Jr. is accused of attempting to smuggle oxycodone and suboxone to an inmate with the help of the inmate's girlfriend.
A Camden County Corrections Officer has been suspended after he was found to be in possession of illegal drugs when he was working at the prison on Wednesday, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office announced.
Edwin Berrios, Jr., 22, of Pennsauken, was caught with suspected oxycodone pills and suboxone strips hidden in his sock to be given to an inmate at the jail at the beginning of his shift on Wednesday, Aug. 15, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Police say Markida Reevey, 22, of Camden, gave Berrios the drugs so he could smuggle them into the jail for her boyfriend, 21-year-old Dayshawn Nesmith, of Camden. Nesmith is in jail awaiting sentencing on unrelated charges.

Berrios has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), two counts of possession with intent to distribute CDS and official misconduct. Reevey and Nesmith were each charged with conspiracy to distribute CDS. They are all scheduled for a first appearance on Aug. 23.
