Camden County Delivers More Than 90K Meals To Seniors In Need
Camden County has delivered more than 90,000 meals to seniors in need since the county expanded its program due to the coronavirus.
CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — More than 90,000 meals have been delivered to seniors since the Camden County Division of Senior and Disabled Services expanded its meal delivery program in response to the outbreak of new coronavirus, officials announced on Thursday.
In total, more than 2,400 individual seniors have received nutritious meals as they navigate the unprecedented crisis represented by coronavirus. From May 5 to May 13, the Division delivered more than 19,000 meals countywide. Meals have been delivered to seniors in 36 municipalities.
“More than two months into this pandemic and our attitude towards this issue has not changed. We will not let the coronavirus pandemic create a hunger crisis in Camden County,” Freeholder Jonathan Young said. “Our team is continuing to add new clients and make deliveries to those in need. If you are a Camden County resident in need of meal assistance during this pandemic, you will not be abandoned. I want to once again highlight the incredible work of the Department of Health, Public Works, Parks, Buildings and Ops, and other departmental staff who have stepped up to make this program the success that it has been. This would not have been possible without their dedication and commitment to public service.”
