Camden Man Sold Deadly Heroin In Gloucester County: Prosecutor

Damien D. Hariell was is charged with selling heroin laced with the powerful painkiller Fentanyl.

A Camden man has been arrested and charged with selling heroin laced with the powerful painkiller Fentanyl to a 44-year-old Mantua Township man on Aug. 4, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday morning. The man died as a result of using the drug.

Damien D. Hariell, 36, is charged with strict liability for a drug death; possession of less than one-half ounce of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of heroin.

Hariell was arrested without incident at a friend’s home in Camden by officers with the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office’s Fugitive Unit on Thursday.

The unemployed man was placed in the Salem County Jail in default of $200,000 bail.

The Major Crimes Unit of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mantua Township Police Department investigated the fatality.

Hariell is the third person the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office is currently prosecuting on first-degree drug-induced death charges. The cases involve fatalities associated with heroin or oxycodone, the prosecutor's office said.
