Man Kills Two People In Front Of Child In South Jersey, Authorities Say

Another drive-by shooting was also reported along North High Street.

MILLVILLE, NJ — A 50-year-old man was taken into custody on Wednesday after shooting and killing two people in a car with a child inside, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office said.

On Sunday, at around 3:40 a.m., officers responded to 815 North High St. for a report of shots fired.

They found Ashley Brown, 32, of Millville, and Andy Steven Brazil, 32, of Vineland, after they were both shot dead.

According to authorities, Daniel L. Gilmore, Jr., 50, of Millville, shot into a vehicle where they and two others, including a woman and a girl, were located.

No other injuries were reported.

Gilmore was charged with two counts of first-degree homicide, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon (namely a handgun), second-degree certain persons not to have a weapon (namely a handgun), fourth-degree possession of a weapon of a high-capacity magazine, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

James Harris, 52, of Absecon, was also charged on Sunday after the shooting.

Officials said Harris shot in the direction of a vehicle driving by that had two people in it.

He was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree certain person to not have a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful pointing of a weapon.

Harris was taken into custody on Monday.
