Driver Hits Person Along Road In South Jersey: Authorities

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A driver and a pedestrian were both charged after a collision along Haddon Avenue on Thursday, the Haddon Township Police said.

At around 6:20 a.m., officers responded to the area of Haddon Avenue and Chestnut Avenue for a crash involving a pedestrian.

The driver stayed at the scene, cooperated with police, and was charged with a summons for careless driving, officials added

The pedestrian was charged with failure to yield the right-of-way as a pedestrian and crossing the roadway in violation of a traffic signal.

Any further information regarding potential injuries and other details was unable to be released, authorities said.

On Monday, roadwork that's anticipated to take months began along Haddon Avenue as part of a $3.5 million Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project.
