HADDONFIELD, NJ — Haddonfield residents have the chance to learn about cyber security during a program at the middle school next week.
The Haddonfield Police Department, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Haddonfield Public School District will present an Internet Safety/Cyber Security Program at 7 p.m. on Feb. 19 in the Haddonfield Middle School auditorium.

The presentation will include information about 10 apps teens are using that parents need to know about, according to the flyer posted on the police department’s Facebook page. It includes:
- Calculator%, an app that looks like a calculator but serves as a secret photo vault;
- Omegle, a free online chat website that promotes chatting anonymously to strangers;
- Snapchat, an app that allows people to exchange messages that disappear within seconds and stories after 24 hours;
- Whisper, an anonymous app in which the creators promote sharing secrets and meeting new people;
- Ask.fm, an app in which people submit anonymous questions and receive an answer. It has been linked to the most severe forms of cyberbullying;
- Hot or Not, an app in which strangers rate each other’s profiles with the goal of finding a hookup;
- Burn Book, an app in which anonymous rumors are posted using audio messages, texts and photos;
- Wishbone, an app that allows users to rate and compare kids;
- Kik, a messaging app that includes web content that a home computer would filter; and
- Instagram, a commonly used app in which kids are now creating fake accounts to hide contents from their parents.
