Haddonfield Takes Another Shot At Regulating Sales Of Dogs, Cats: Report
If passed, the proposed ordinance would ensure a pet store never opens in the borough.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — For the second time in three months, Haddonfield has set its sights on pet stores.
Earlier this month, the commissioners unanimously approved a proposed ordinance on introduction to adopt Norman’s Law, banning the sale of cats and dogs from puppy and kitten mills, the Haddonfield Sun reports.
A similar proposal was introduced in December. However, that ordinance was pulled because some changes had to be made, according to the report.
There are no pet stores currently in Haddonfield, and this ordinance would ensure there never will be.

A total of 125 ordinances banning the sale of cats and dogs from mills have been enacted nationally since Camden County passed its countywide ordinance in 2015, according to the report.
Towns in Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties are among the towns who have followed suit.
The ordinance is named for Camden County Freeholder Jeff Nash’s dog, who Nash rescued from a local shelter.
