Inflammatory Sign Targeting Mexicans Causes Stir in South Jersey
The sign was discovered near PATCO tracks in Haddon Township Thursday morning.

Haddon Township, NJ -- A wooden sign posted anonymously and apparently showing support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and discriminating against Mexicans caused a stir on social media and throughout South Jersey this week.
The sign, which read: “Mexicans go back were (sic) u B long (sic) get out wetbacks,” was found next to the PATCO Hi-Speedline tracks off Cuthbert Boulevard in Haddon Township, the Courier Post reports. The sign also made a reference to Donald Trump, although it was unclear what was written before his name.
The sign was discovered by Collingswood resident Dan Angelucci while he was walking his dog early Thursday morning.

"Before seeing the sign, walking up to it, my first inclination was 'wow I hope this isn't some racist sign,' and then ultimately, it was," Angelucci said in an email to Patch. "It is a shocking thing to put up, and certainly an aggressive message to send to many of the people in our community-plenty of which, by the way, are naturalized citizens."
He also said it isn't surprising.

"Even in a town and a community as tolerant as ours, there's going to be pockets of this intolerance," Angelucci said.
The sign was on property owned by the the Delaware River Port Authority. DRPA oversees PATCO, and expressed outrage over the placement of the sign on their property, according to the Courier Post report.
“The DRPA Police Department is currently investigating,” CEO John Hanson told the newspaper.
The rest of the community has also expressed outrage.
"Most people are very against it," Angelucci said. "And it's good to send that message throughout the community- that this is not something we stand for. Whether that's enough, I don't know. But hopefully those in our community who would be targeted by this message can know that a significant amount of the community stands by them.
