Lineup Set For Pat King Awards In Haddonfield
The awards ceremony for those who made the HP&P season possible takes place on Saturday, Jan. 13.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — Haddonfield Plays & Players (HP&P) announced its lineup for the second annual Pat King Awards, which is set for Saturday, Jan. 13, 7 p.m. During the event, awards will be presented to honor those in the creative community who made this year’s performances possible.
The entertainment for this year’s ceremony includes montages and live performances from HP&P's 2017 productions, including "Sister Act," "The Pillowman," "Rock of Ages," "Kiss Me Kate," and "A Christmas Carol."
HP&P created the Pat King Awards in 2016 to recognize excellence in theatrical performance and production. The awards are named after the longtime leader and member of HP&P.

King spent her early childhood in India, riding elephants and gazing at the Himalayas. When she was six, she was sent to England to receive a proper education, leaving behind her parents and everything familiar to her.
She lived in a convent and attended a school with a small theatre where she immersed herself in all aspects of stage production; from acting, stage managing, and stage crew to costumes, make up, props, and lighting.
When King turned 16, she attended the Royal Academy for Dramatic Arts and studied acting and directing. Later in life, she moved from London to Bombay to Boston, where she met and married Ferris King, a U.S. Air Corps Intelligence officer.

They lived in Haddonfield with their four children for 45 years. They were active in the community and were among the first HP&P members. Pat King filed HP&P for incorporation and established HP&P's status as a non-profit organization.
Pat King was committed to expanding the theater's educational programs. She led the charge to purchase a small house on a large lot in Crow's Woods and continued to raise the funds necessary to build HP&P's current Performing Art Center. Her tenure with HP&P spanned 5 decades over which she was involved with hundreds of shows while always serving as the torchbearer of the spirit of HP&P.
HP&P is a group of individuals who come together with the goal of presenting quality theater at an affordable price to a wide range of Delaware Valley audiences. It also aims to provide a creative outlet for non-professionals. It all takes place in an atmosphere of personal and social enrichment that is open to all persons with a commitment to non-profit theater.
