Man Accused Of Masturbating Near Kids In Haddon Twp. Faces New Charge: Police

The man was accused of performing the lewd act while driving past children on multiple occasions, per court documents.

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man accused of masturbating in his minivan near children in Haddon Township is now facing a child pornography charge, according to court documents and police statements.

Last month, police accused Kyle Edelstein of committing lewd acts in Haddon Township. In affidavts, police say he masturbated while driving past two children a few weeks ago.

After further investigation, detectives determined that Edelstein had multiple images and videos containing child pornography, police said.

Edelstein, 38, of Pennsauken, was charged Thursday with second-degree possession of child sexual abuse material.

A pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Edelstein's listed attorney wasn't immediately available for comment.

Investigation into Edelstein began Jan. 21, when an unknown suspect was accused of masturbating while driving past two children on three different occasions that day, according to court documents.

All three encounters were reported within a few blocks of Haddon Township schools.

The victims described the vehicle as a white minivan with black handles that are lower to the ground, police said.

Haddon Township police found the white minivan and approached it Jan. 27. Inside, they found Edelstein with his belt undone and his zipper down, an affidavit says.

Edelstein was charged with two counts each of endangering the welfare of a child (third-degree), criminal sexual contact (fourth-degree), and lewdness (disorderly persons offense).
