South Jersey Man Found Guilty of Child Sex Assault at Daycare Facility
Raymond J. Martin was convicted in the sexual assault of a now 8-year-old boy.

A Glassboro man was found guilty of sexually assaulting a four-year-old boy who was enrolled in a day-care center Martin’s wife operated in the couple’s home on Wednesday.
Raymond J. Martin, 48, was found guilty of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
The boy, now 8 years old testified during the four-day trial. His parents, a doctor who specializes in child sexual abuse and detectives who interviewed Martin also testified.

This included a New Jersey State Police Officer to whom Martin ultimately acknowledged committing the offenses twice at his residence in March 2011.
The defense countered that the admission was under duress.

Martin wrote a note of apology to the boy that was shown to the jury. Jeneby argued the note confirmed a sexual assault done knowingly.
Martin did not testify. His now-estranged wife was a witness for the defense.
He was initially charged in April of 2011. In January of last year, a jury was unable to reach a verdict, but Martin was found not guilty of second-degree sexual assault.
At the prosecution’s request, Martin’s bail was revoked after the conviction and he was placed in jail. No sentencing date was scheduled pending an evaluation of Martin at the state’s Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, a facility for sex offenders in Avenel.
