• 'We lost a giant': North Jersey police force mourns retired chief (njherald.com) — A longtime police chief who lived in the Hamburg section of Hardyston Township has died at age 81, and North Jersey law enforcement leaders are remembering him as a mentor and “giant” in the profession. The retired Haledon chief introduced D.A.R.E., built an auxiliary police corps, and continued serving as a county undersheriff, while his family now asks that any memorial donations support a statewide police survivors’ fund.
