Bergen Docs, Pro Women's Hockey Team Partner For Mental Health

A Bergen County health organization is partnering with professional women's hockey players to raise awareness about mental health.

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — Mental health is an important consideration for athletes, and a Bergen County health organization is partnering with professional women's hockey players to raise awareness.

The Metropolitan Riveters represent New York and New Jersey in the Premier Hockey Federation. The Riveters partnered with Baker Street Health & Human Performance to hold a mental health awareness match March 5, according to a news release from the team. The Riveters played the Boston Pride that night.

Baker Street provides medical support and behavioral and mental health services.

"The Baker Street team works with numerous pro teams to provide unmatched health services, and is a true champion for women’s sports," the Riveters said in the news release.

Other Baker Street partners include the Brooklyn Nets, New Jersey Devils, Gotham FC, NY Liberty, and New York Red Bulls.

“Having the proper access to medical care for our athletes to heal their bodies and minds is invaluable,” said Anya Packer, General Manager of the Metropolitan Riveters. “Mental health is health. With this expansion of benefits that provides mental and behavioral health resources, we are continuing to set Metropolitan apart as a team athletes want to play for. I am proud of the player experience we are building here with the support of great partners like Baker Street.”
