Board of Education Will Swear in New Members Next Thursday

The Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education will conduct its annual reorganization meeting Thursday, May 5 in the media center beginning at a special time of 5:30 p.m. to allow ample time for a reception to follow the swearing in ceremony and business matters.

to serve out new terms which begin next week.

Meet the new board of education members. Below are facts taken from each person's bio and/or statement.

Debra Bruno

-          A 13 year resident of Hasbrouck Heights

-          She is employed as a school psychologist in Bergen County

-          Married to a lifelong educator.

-          She  has certifications in social work, behavior management, and addictions counseling.

-          She has served previously on the board of education in another district.

Lillian Romano

-          Grew up in Hasbrouck Heights and graduated from the high school.

-          She is a special education teacher in the Leonia school district.

-          Both her children went to HH schools. Her youngest Marissa graduates this June.

-          She served on the board of education in Heights from 2007 to 2010.

-          She previously worked as a child protective services case manager for the Division of Youth and Family Services

Robert Salerno

-          He is a member of the Lodi Police Department

-          He has been a resident of the borough since 2001.

-          He served previously on the board from 2003 to 2006.

-          His wife Francine is a lifelong resident of the borough and graduate of HH schools.

-          Salerno is an active member of Euclid Masonic Lodge located in Hasbrouck Heights.

Joseph Samperi

-          He has lived in the borough for the past five years with his wife and two children.

-          Samperi is a specialty sales professional at a pharmaceutical company.

-          He has a strong financial background having worked in the investment banking industry.

-          He is a member of the New Balance softball team in the Hasbrouck Heights Men’s Softball Association.

-          He coaches for Hasbrouck Heights Soccer Association and Hasbrouck Heights Little League.
