Borough Set to go to Bid for Next Phase of Boulevard Upgrades
Construction will be done to both sides of the Boulevard from Jefferson to Franklin to Hamilton

The borough is set to go to bid August 8 for the construction to upgrade the next two streets - from Jefferson to Franklin to Hamilton- in the Boulevard Streetscape Project, Kenneth Job, the borough’s engineer reported during the most recent work session meeting.
The borough must award a bid for the construction before the August 25 deadline in order to meet the guideline set by the state Department of Transportation which awarded grants to fund the work.
To date the borough has received four grants, each in the amount of $150,000 which funds one street, both sides, in the Boulevard upgrade project. Upgrades to the streets include new brick pavers, curbs and lighting.

The first two phases – both sides of the street from Washington to Kipp to Jefferson- were completed last year. Job reported that there is still some minor work needed to be done by public service to the lighting fixtures in order to consider those two phases complete.
The borough has combined the work for phases three and four into one project as per recommendation by Job who suggested that this would help get a better price for the work and would bring the borough ahead of schedule for the project.

Job reported Tuesday that the designs for the which is now a requirement by the DOT, will not be ready by the bidding date however special language has been included in the plans which states the specific plans for this will come at a later date.
According to Job there are also more certification processes involved with the ADA compliant curb ramps than they were previously aware of which the borough will also have to deal with as the work is being done.
